Niko's story

Meet Niko (Has Been Adopted)

Niko came to the rescue as an owner surrender having been in a kennel in a garage most of his life. To avoid him being euthanized due to his breed, age, and not being neutered we took him into the rescue.

Wendy helped us as an emergency foster while we got him neutered and found him a permanent home. While at Wendy’s his eyes opened with excitement and happiness with all the new things he learned. He came in as a bull in a China shop but over time he has learned to play with people appropriately, supervise his backyard, accept love from people, and be a true lapdog sitting in couches and people.

To help overcome the stereotype of his tough guy exterior, he started working with a trainer and attends Doggy Day School where is affectionately known as Meatball. He is a true lover who doesn’t want treats for rewards; rather, he wants human attention and love.

Niko loves his house, regulating his neighborhood from his backyard, walks to meet people, car rides to explore his community, and school to meet friends. Wendy explains that she had no intentions of a third dog but this Velvet Hippo stole her heart and rescued her; Niko is truly a lover not a fighter. That's what we call a Happy Tail.
